Power of Twitter in thought leadership

Posted on Wednesday 12 August 2009

OK. So maybe I’m not a thought leader.

But last week I wrote a blog post and tweeted a link to the post.

A couple minutes later, I get an E mail from a Forbes.com , Tom Van Riper, who had been following me on Twitter.

We spoke by phone…and yesterday he wrote a nice story about the idea…quoted me quite a bit and linked back to this blog.

Not bad for 140 characters of work.

Twitter can get us access to people that we would otherwise have the chance to speak with…..if you’re engaging enough!

Twitter is really awesome tool; In fact we can get useful information from some twit. I do agree with Muscut on “if you are followed by forbes.com by twitting on to twitter then your blog is really informative that must be a reason behind that”.

That is really nice if you are now followed by forbes.com. Companies like Forbes.com do not easily follow people on twitter. They just follow people who are outstanding and this proves that you must have done outstanding work on twitter. Twitter is very nice social networking site i really like it. good luck

Kudos on the story being picked up by Forbes.

With social media now out pacing porn as the number one activity on the internet, sports teams better catch the wave. And as mentioned, with readership down for newspapers, it makes sense to fill the void with web 2.0

That’s awesome. I recently wrote a press release and had a huge response with twitter. I find that it can be hit or miss but Twitter is awesome overall.

I also had a similar experience where I made a comment on facebook regarding a new service I was launching for my business. On my facebook, it's mostly my friends and family. I figured they might know the odd person who would be interested and take a look.

After the post on facebook, I tracked the webpage over the next 24 hours and it had 125 hits referred from facebook and I had 2 phonecalls and 4 e-mails about it. 3 of these turned into a piece of work within a week and all for 30 seconds and about 35 words.

Social websites offer a whole new avenue for viral marketing, use it or lose out I say!

Twitter is powerful indeed if we used it for marketing purpose. You can interact with many relevant users by one click. Nice info. Thanks

If your post is worthy and your followers are relevant so it can boost your website traffic and business too.

Twitter is growing faster day by day. Twitter is also useful for marketing, but i agree with the above post that if your post is worth reading then people will follow happily. But it’s sad to see twitter is crowded with spammers too.

A lot of fan's reactions to twitter seems logical. I think a lot of people in marketing and branding departments are seeing the use of twitter grow and are eager to get involved so they don't get left behind. I think this is a serious mis-step if you're not taking the time to understand what the fans want, and then find a technology that fits.

It sounds like mycolts.net is a huge success and seems pretty clear why– It gives fans a chance to engage with the brand and other fans- twitter doesn't facilitate this, it is a real-time distribution channel.

I follow the Forrester model of thinking: People then Technology

There are so many new updates on twitter. Twitter is just like orkut can make the no of friends and chare our thoughts, ideas, links to them and they can also. This showing the power of twitter.
