Frequently flying to NYC for Sports conferences this Fall

Posted on Tuesday 9 September 2008

We’re just finishing preparations for our Sports 2.0 Summit coming up tomorrow, Sept 10, at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. I visited Dodger Stadium for the first time yesterday to check on the venue and make final preparations. It’s gonna be very cool. Still time to sign up…so if you’re on the fence, jump off and join us.

On Thursday I’ll be shifting gears to prepare for what’s turning out to be my “Northestern Tour” this Fall…

Next up will be our Sports Marketing 2.0 Summit at the Sports Museum of American on October 16. Little did I know when we picked October 16 as the date for theNew York Summit, that every other sports conference in the world will be in the city this Fall. In case you didn’t know, here’s a quick list of some of the other great events coming soon to the Big Apple:

EconSports:the economics of digital sports media
From major leagues to the half-pipe, sports is a topic that touches everyone—and it seems like everyone is looking for ways to make new media money from it. Media companies and leagues have been on the forefront of adopting digital media technologies but the business of online sports ranges from community-based little league sites to real-time streaming video of major and minor sporting events.

On October 29 at the Edison Ballroom in New York City, EconSports will delve into everything: the complicated economics of league rights, data business, syndication, exclusivity, premium and more. Sports Marketing 2.0 is a sponsor of this event. I plan to attend.

Sports Media & Technology Show SportsBusiness Journal, SportsBusiness Daily and the Fantasy Sports Association have announced that the 10th Annual FSA Sports Media & Technology conference will be held November 19-20 at The Westin at Times Square. I will be a panelist at this show.

Princeton Sports Symposium brings together the most knowledgeable and successful people in the sports business to discuss various aspects and trends in the industry. The event will give students an opportunity to gain insight into the sports business as well as to learn from and network with some of the top professionals in the field. I’ll be a panelist at this event in December.

      Pat,
I was amazed at the Econsports so close after the sportsmarketing 2.0 summit as well.
I am almost thinking about staying longer in NYC (say October 15-30). What would you do?

If you can afford to stay for both then it might make sense.
