Sports Marketing 2.0 Summit taking shape

Posted on Wednesday 26 December 2007

When I first dreamed up the idea of holding a sports marketing 2.0 summit, I wasn’t sure if anyone would want to come. But based on what’s happend over the past two weeks, I’d say we’re onto something.

Here are the major themes we’ll be exploring in our panel discussions:

1. Value of the Sports fans online: quality vs. quantity + exposure vs. engagement

2. Attracting and engaging sports fans online: what keeps sports fans engaged?

3. Sports fans love their digital toys: meet the people who make the software applications

4. Fan communities versus sports media: Is there a difference? Why should we care?

5. State of online sports sponsorship: What are big sponsors doing with online sports? What are they planning?

We’re putting together All-Star panels for each of these themes. I’ll be announcing the panelists soon.

Meanwhile, if you’re planning to be in NYC on February 12 and you’re interested in attending, please apply for an invite to this summit. Space is limited to 60 total attendees. Priority is givent to: sports leagues, sports teams, sponsor brands, and interactive agencies.

Also, there will be a “Pre Game Mixer” on February 11 (5:30pm to 7pm) at the Roosevelt Hotel (bar) in Manhattan. Please use this form to register for this informal gathering.
