It’s interesting to see patterns as they form…and mycolts patterns seem to be quite different from colts.com.
Preseason Week 2 saw some improvement over Week 1 on mycolts.net. Game day traffic was up considerably over last week and day after game was even better. Yesterday’s traffic on MyColts reached a high water mark for the month of August with 1,900 visits and 31,00 page views.
Here’s a chart of unique visitors for August. The yellow line is traffic from July where we did a lot of promotion for new members.
MyColts – Visits (3 days around Dallas game)
Aug 8 – 962
Aug 9 – 1,120 (game day)
Aug 10 – 873
MyColts – visits (3 days around Bears game)
Aug 19 – 961
Aug 20 – 1,425 (game day)
Aug 21 – 1,804 – biggest days of the month so far with 31,000 page views, but we’re still down quite a bit from July levels.
Reasons for the increase? Could be that fans are getting more engaged as the season is approaching. And we published a “news article” on Colts.com on game day to help drive traffic to mycolts. That probably helped a bit.
Peak times of day
Colts.com – as in years past, traffic peaks at kickoff. Typically it goes up during the game, but (preseason) it stayed flat, but consistent throughout the game). Day after the game, typically 9a to noon is the peak. Yesterday was up overall, but no big spike in the morning.
MyColts – Highest traffic on game day at 9am and again at 2p. Day after game, traffic spiked between 1p and 3p. Very different than colts.com.
While membership in mycolts continues to grow steadily, our overall traffic is not taking off the way I’d like. Granted, we haven’t done any new promotions this month as we’ve been working out some technical difficulties and digesting the new membership we gained in July.

Very interesting, we peak just before the 1:00 PM kickoff and then drops and does not go up.
I’ll have to do some more digging. I think I have a reason why.
