Don't be a follower. Cater to your niche's needs. Empower your community. Provide them tools that allow easy and effective viral communication. Get them working for the benefit of the network. Recruit (i.e. moderators, bloggers, support staff, etc) from your community. Always seek to move forward. Listen (so key, don't think you know it all), be honest and upfront with any issues/glitches and make a big deal of the little improvements, not just the big stuff. Keep the software easy and sleek, but don't go overboard (major mistake by many communities... 37signals.com follows excellent principles in building Web applications). Build the community around the community. Best user experience is created with these ingredients.</description>
