Back at Super Bowl time I was all excited about Bud TV. NY Times magazine did a huge piece on the $30M launch which was supposed to catapult off its Super Bowl ads and establish a new paradigm in media and marketing: the message becomes the medium
Anyway, like any new business, Bud.tv is apparently facing its fair share of challenges. Read this article from Hollywood Reporter to learn the details. Apparently the registration process gets bogged down to the the age verification requirement.

I for one applaud Bud’s attempt and hope one day to do some kind of cross-promotional / content / advertising deal with MyColts.Net.
On the other hand, I have to admit as I browse the site there’s nothing there I want to see. Granted, I’m a 41 year-old who doesn’t drink, but still. If I wanted any of this “entertainment” content, I’d probably try to find a way to have it come to me, rather than having to go to a destination site like but.tv. It’s not really worth the trip at this point.
Maybe if there were more sports?!
Bud TV fell on its face due to the ridiculous registration process and not the content. The site didn’t even get out of the gate and it was a colossal failure. I still have yet to be “approved” to gain access.
You should try again. I signed up yesterday. It took 2 mintues.
Ok, I tried it out again and got right in. This time it didn’t ask for my drivers license. Which was a ridiculous criteria. I still don’t really understand why a user has to be “of legal age to consume alcohol” to view this site or any Beer site. At least they fixed the registration process but the content is NOT very interesting. Unless I missed something or the site doesn’t work well with Mac OS all I could find is ONE video. Concept good, bad execution in my opinion.
