On Super Bowls and search engines

Posted on Wednesday 31 January 2007

P.J. Fusco wrote a great piece today comparing the Colts vs. the Bears team Websites in terms of Search Engine results (read it on ClickZ)

Readers of my blog may remember I shared some of our traffic data in a previous blog post:

Read Colts.com 12-month traffic summary

Only 17% of our site traffic comes from search engines. I’m not sure how much traffic would improve if we did a better job optimizing our site. We never really paid much attention to SEO since our URL www.colts.com is so obvious.

But maybe there’s something to it. Despite the fact that our fan base is getting larger all the time, and despite the fact that we have as much or more content on our site than any other NFL team, Colts.com tends to remain in the middle of the pack in terms of overall traffic.

So who wins?

Hard to say from the ClickZ article. Looks like it’s gonna be close!!
