MyColts.net update

Posted on Wednesday 20 December 2006

It occurs to me that I haven’t mentioned mycolts.net in a while. So here’s a status report:

We originally intended to launch the social network this month, but we’ve pushed that back. It has proven too difficult to focus on the new application in the middle of the football season (while we’re still doing our “day” jobs).

Still, we’re making progress. Coders are cranking out code. Designers are whipping up graphics. We’ve begun serious talks with some other teams about sharing the application across the league. And every day we find new ways to make the system better.

We’ll launch the new site along with a redesigned Colts.com sometime in early 2007. In the coming days I will announce some cool new stuff we’re doing (before the site launches) with widgets, on-line games, and recommendation engines.

We’re also working with a major University to develop “personas” for the on-line sports fan. This is an amazingly fertile learning ground. I can’t wait to share, but I will wait until I actually have new data. I’m a bit tired of talking about “what if,” you know?
