Colts fans to earn Superbowl tickets

Posted on Wednesday 8 November 2006

I just found out that my request for Super Bowl tickets has been APPROVED!

This is very exciting. As we launch the Colts Fan Network we’ll be able to promote a contest in which one lucky fan will win a pair of tickets plus hotel accomodations for the Super Bowl in Miami. This should help us jump start the entire platform which has been delayed much longer than we anticipated.

As soon as we’re ready to launch, we want people to engage early and post often, so we’re building a system in which we reward points for certain fan behaviors inside the network. Any user who accumulates at least 41 points (for Super Bowl 41) before the specified deadline will be eligible to win. We’ll pick a name at random for all fans who qualify.

Beyond this contest, this points system will be used as a way to help fans gain notoriety in the network. As fans accumulate points (which equate to activity and popularity inside the network), their blogs, profiles and reviews will be pushed to the top of the rankings. When they’re at the top, these fans will be posted to public facing pages inside the network. This will give fans the means to satisfy their desire to be VISIBLE, one of the key drivers for this entire initiative.

I’m not sure yet how much detail we’ll publish to the fans as to which behaviors drive points. We want to keep this as organic as possible. That being said, we do plan to offer promotions from time to time whereby fans can earn extra points for responding to Colts offers and / or sponsor offers. Lots of potential here to drive ROI and gather fan data. We’ll see if it works!

Here’s a peek at the first draft of our points system:

I’m from New England, but I’d like to say congratulations to the Indianapolis Colts and the Colts fans. You guys haven’t had a superbowl in a long time and frankly the way you came back and beat the Patriots Sunday, you deserve to beat the Bears, which I think you will. I will be rooting for Peyton and the Colts on Sunday. As much as it hurts losing right now, maybe in two weeks I’ll be at least able to watch the superbowl and then not think about football again until August. I just don’t know if I can the way we blew that game. oh well at least we have the Sox for a few months :P Anyway you guys played better than we did in the 2nd half and we screwed up a huge lead. That’s all that it boils down to. It was a hard fought game and the best team deserved to win, and that was the Colts. I wish Peyton manning and the Colts as well as their fans success in their trip to Miami and have fun down there, but always remember to use common sense and a designated driver! This should be a happy time! Remember that. Enjoy the superbowl Colts fans! Bury the Bears!
