Broncos social network up and running

Posted on Sunday 29 October 2006

I got an E mail today from a colleague at Broncos stadium. It said, “have you seen this? There are signs all over the stadium.”

He was talking about Broncos Country, a social network for Broncos fans. It’s up and running and it’s looking pretty good.

Broncos Country

I poked around a bit inside Broncos Country and found that fans could find other fans (there are 27 Broncos fans signed up from Indiana, and over 2,000 nationwide). Fans can upload photos, receipes, game experiences and the can create personal profile pages. Here’s mine:

My broncos profile
I didn’t want to go too far with my Broncos profile page, but I did test the photo upload tool. That’s a photo of my family (before the birth of our fourth child. Nice Colts jerseys, huh?!) Very simple. Worked great. You can also upload video, but I didn’t try it. The Broncos overall site design is very nice (in my opinion). The Broncos Country brand is strong.

We thought we’d be the first NFL social network to go live, but looks like we were wrong. Either the Broncos just launched this puppy (which would explain the relatively low membership) or we must have missed itwhen we were researching other NFL sites. Either way, I’m psyched to see it.

Pat do the Colts offer a social-networking site? If they don’t, it would seem like a good chance to make ‘Coltsville’ a reality.

I just can’t wait till the rest of the teams and leagues get a network……

Yes. The Colts are planning to launch http://www.mycolts.net, which will be a fully functional, social-networking site. WE hope to launch in the next month or so. You can sign up for E mail new when you visit that URL

Just checked it out myself. Looks good. Clean and simple much like the rest of their site. The Bronco’s Locker came out last year, which could have been the impetus to branch out and make Broncos Country.

Seems we have 37 Bronco fans so far from NY signed up.

I wonder how many different social networks people will sign up for. There must be a stat somewhere showing a similar trend for message boards.
