Newspaper launches a social network

Posted on Wednesday 25 October 2006

Thanks again to Mashable for its coverage of the social networking scene. Just read this morning of a newspaper in the UK that’s blazing a trail in social networking. You’ll find a good review / critique there.

Thanks to the insights of my colleague, AJ Macht, the Colts Fan Network will come out of the gates with much of the functionality that this newspaper won’t. Users will be able to bring RSS feeds into their personal “mycolts” pages, for example.

Our goal is to create an excellent social networking platform - something that improves on the sites that are already out there. We realize that’s what we need to do if we expect fans to use our system.

Launching a site like this takes a lot of time. We’re cranking away to get our up and running before the holidays (we hope). Stay tuned.
