Posted on Thursday 29 June 2006

If a blog is posted to the Web and nobody reads it, does it make a point?

Yes. It serves as catharsis to the author. A blog – web log – is a document in the same way a physical diary is. Do people expect to share their personal diaries publicly? No.

The reason that blogs have become public is clearly for their commercial marketing power. Nothing wrong with this, as long as they remain true to the fundamental tenet of blogging, which is sharing a little of the author amongst the opinions and sales hype.

This is the way it is for me at my blog, and I couldn’t be without it!

      Cheers
      Matt
